Soundtracks are used by some frontends to demonstrate the in-game music and effects from some systems. Soundtracks are stored in the C:\Mame\soundtrack folder. You can download soundtracks from Progetto-Snaps or as part of the MAME Extras Multimedia torrent on Pleasuredome.
